Trinity was not developed by a furniture company. It was developed by a professional double bass player who spent more than two decades confronting the very challenges the system seeks to address.

José Vilaplana Herruzo

Founder · Principal Double Bass, Brussels Philharmonic

José Vilaplana Herruzo has more than twenty years of experience in orchestras, education and performance. Currently Principal Double Bass of the Brussels Philharmonic, he has spent much of his professional life exploring the artistic, technical and physical demands of the instrument.

From experience to a question

Like many double bass players, he experienced first-hand the tension, fatigue and physical challenges associated with traditional playing setups. Rather than accepting them as inevitable, he began asking whether a different approach was possible.

Years of work with the instrument, together with physiotherapists, ergonomics specialists and innovators, revealed a recurring pattern: the problem was not simply the musician, nor the instrument alone, but the relationship between the musician, the instrument and the playing setup. That insight became Trinity.

Everything is interconnected

Alongside his musical career, José developed a deep interest in philosophy, theology and the study of the human person, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Theology and Religious Studies.

These studies reinforced a conviction that now sits at the heart of Trinity: everything is interconnected. The quality of music depends on the musician; the well-being of the musician influences performance; and the conditions in which people work ultimately shape the quality of what they create.

This vision inspired both the systemic design of Trinity and its deeper purpose: to align musical excellence with care for the human person. Designed not only from theory, but from lived experience.
